Pre-RavenBlack City

Jaida Marie Pace

Her only flaw was a love affair with appreciation, attention; not fangs, a garlic allergy, or a dawn curfew. Jaida Marie had an easy life growing up in an upper-middle class home as a single child. At eighteen years old she was the epitome for all things cliche in your average outlook on the American youth. Her parents were still married, she explored various non-committal relationships, and had a healthy respect for teenage curiosity.

The man who changed everything.

With a forceful persuasion, he brought Jaida over to her new life. A pierce of a vein, an exchange of blood, and nine days worth of torturous change later, she was recruited to a new race with a new set of rules.

It wasn't easy to get used to either. The man, Marco as everyone called him, had five hundred years of being a stubborn ass under his belt. Despite the intricate web of misunderstandings and grudges held, they stayed together for five years with the rest of the Afolayan family (his sire's lineage) under the weight of necessity for each other for the sake of survival.

The first year was the hardest, by far. She had rules to learn, etiquette to master, and members of the large vampiric family to tolerate. Like any good sire, he took Jaida and left the state of Florida just after her turning. They fled to West Africa, where the Afolayan family flourished. At the time, it was the best decision to be made as the man couldn't handle her alone and she had quickly learned that she wasn't yet over her animosity toward him.

The rest of the years seemed to skim by without too many incidences. She was on decent standing with the family, the relationship with her maker was, for all intents and purposes, on level (sexual) ground; though they still despised each other privately. What she truly felt for the man, and what he truly felt for her, was never voiced in any way; and finally, on March 21st, 2005, she killed her maker for reasons she's never spoken of. From there, she made her way back to the United States.

Life in the City

It was almost immediately that she fell in love with the place, the people, and the entire concept of it; though, she didn't see much of the city aside from the 'ghettos' and 'Suburbs'.
