Shina Costigan
Shina is a relatively young vampire, who joined the City a year or so ago.
"It was dark that night. A storm would roll in the next day. The skies were covered in clouds, and if it were a mere two weeks earlier, the moon would have been full and looming overhead. Instead, I was inebriated, stumbling in the dark along a shortcut to find my way home. I suppose you know how it ended, yes? Here I am, a vampire, a blessed soul, a cursed creature. Nothing of that nature can ever change, nor do I will for it to do so."
That being said by the vampiress herself, Shina does much prefer the vampiric lifestyle and sees the human life pale in comparison. The taste of blood intrigues her rather than satisfies her, like drinking hot, melted copper, the scent murky and warm. She finds it fascinating to observe the life that vampires lead, perhaps not monstrous the way that some perceive it to be, but more shocking and captivating.
She had roamed in the ghettos under a large number of names, for whatever reason she had decided she wanted. It was not as if her face had changed, nor her hairstyle, or even her choice in attire. It was only her name that differed.
Finally, the girl decided on the name Shina (her surname Costigan to come at a later date.)
Appearance
With dark, thick hair reaching to the middle of her back and blue eyes bright with interest and thought, Shina thought of herself to be attractive. Not in the way of arrogance...but it was accepting the fact that she was indeed lucky enough to look the way she does. Her appearance is not exactly unique or shockingly gorgeous, but enough that Shina is comfortable with herself.
Her pale, ivory skin is soft, only few patches of the snow-colored flesh scarred from Holy Water. She had only been in two battles, and each time the battles had taken her life, the D'dary family creating a frail, bloodless body out of a usually lean-muscled, curvy body. One scar runs from behind her ear down her neck, an effect from a glass vial of Holy Water breaking against her, the bottle smashing on impact. The other noticeable scar is located on her left hip. The pinkish red scar was created to erase a memory.
Shina stands at an average 5'7", usually reaching two or three inches higher in her favorite heels. Her clothing ranges from the everyday jeans and a t-shirt to more elegant sundresses, but one thing that all of her clothing has in comparison is that none are uncomfortable to wear. Shina's comfort level is important to her, and she will not bend to wear a specific article of clothing just for its appearance if it does not fit correctly, or if it is made from scratchy material. She much rather goes for the simple clothes, simple fabrics, like cotton and linen.
History
Before she was known as Shina, she was a human by the name of Estella Cordain. She was of a rich family in the early years of the 1900's. Always seen carousing in the taverns; drinking, smoking and dancing, Shina was turned on her walk from home from the tavern to her plantation.
She was turned and quickly left home after realizing what had happened. Shina did not come to terms with what she was for decades, only seeing herself as a thing of evil. Her views of herself changed later on when she came across a community of people like herself, and decided that it would be best to stay with those who understood and would not complicate her lifestyle.
She liked that she had gotten the luck to find people who needed to drink blood to survive. Shina was happy that she found others who did not seem to age the way humans do. She was mostly happy that she had found a home.
After months of playing around in the ghettos, socializing with other vampires, most of her friends being less classy and more about having fun, Shina realized that †Deylin, a close friend of hers, had changed. He had grown, putting down his fun-time cloak, and gotten sired, working his way into the City and out of the ghettos. Every time Shina saw him, something was different. He seemed more able to perceive things, a glint in his eye sharper than many of those around him. He seemed faster, and was quick to regain energy, needing less time to stop and wait to regain the life so that he could run again. He had money, coins safely deposited in the bank and a few jingling in his pockets. Shina was jealous, and aspired to become someone like that. She wanted to have the same things that Deylin did: powers, friends, and a family.
Shina talked to †Deylin, and later on, she was sired into the line of †ladypeacek. She and †Frozen Nova were proclaimed as twins, both being sired at the same time. They had both met each other relatively early in their time of the City, and they had always wanted to grow up together. Now, they could, and Shina was positively delighted that it was so.
Along with the Wolfe family came new friends. Shina met her future companion, †Naimira-sama, and a good friend †BladeOfRayne through Deylin and their family. Shina immediately loved them, and although incredibly intimidated, the vampiress continued to talk to them. She eventually eased out of her fear, but not before she met †Andre, the son of †Sartori, a famed vampire with a reputation of being the best warrior in the City.
It was †BladeOfRayne who had introduced her to †Andre. Or rather, tried to. Shina ran from him as if he was the black plague, but sure enough, he caught up with her, and they began to speak. He offered Shina a spot in his line, and his words were promising. She agreed to his offer after a little while, †Deylin severing her to do so.
She joined Andre's line for roughly five months, leaving twice, once in December to return once more, and then later in January. She was zero'd soon after alongside her then companion, †Daly.
Shina became the childe of †Annabelle. During that time, Shina grew closer to the aspect of family, and that became her largest desire. She wanted to belong to a family that she loved and was loved in return, one that was strong in loyalty and kind in the heart. She found that in the Adaires, although she didn't really speak to her then brother †Zuri Petteri or dandelion. In the late spring of 2008, Shina severed from †Annabelle thinking that she was gone forever.
Bindings, Severances and Friendships
She was sired by †Deylin in June-July of '07. Later severing from †Deylin, she sired under †Andre D'dary in August of '07. She left †Andre and went to †Annabelle in January-February '08. Recently (June of '08) she has become a master vampire, walking around the City on her own.
Shina Costigan has had two serious relationships, one being the woman †Naimira-sama D'dary, childe of †Sartori, and the other being †Daly, childe of †Archontohs.
Shina sired two childer that she's very proud of; †Tohru-Chan and †Chazz_Ryu.
Shina has three blood sisters: †Inu, †Frozen Nova, and †FemaleKyo.
Out of Character
Shina is played by Marissa. Marissa is not very interesting. Marissa is friends with Ariel and Jillian, who play the characters †Frozen Nova and †FemaleKyo.
