Archived Item Talk Page

Someone needs to put the actual Items into own pages or maybe even their own categories. eg. each scroll page into [[Category:Scrolls]] --Cliff Burton Marco 21:47, 20 April 2011 (CEST)

already happend. --Cliff Burton Marco 21:48, 20 April 2011 (CEST)

Would it be meaningful to create a sub-category for "Special Items", defined as A) only being available in Special Shops, and B) having special prices (no Charisma discounts)? --deCarnac 18:24, 23 March 2012 (CET)

Makes sense, but maybe in a filter way. Keep the item in it's parent category as well, explained there (which you might already have read) Talk:The_Eternal_Aubade_of_Mystical_Treasures#Up-to-date_item_list. --Cliff Burton Marco 03:19, 24 March 2012 (CET)

Sub-category ideas

I have been thinking about the sub-categories for items. Just a few years ago, all items could easily be placed in the three sub-categories potions, scrolls and gifts. But several of the "new" items don't fit in any of those. Adding new categories will benefit from pre-planning, so here are some suggestions for a system with two types of sub-categories. Names of new categories below are only preliminary suggestions.

As a side note, in-game items all being in [[Category:Items]] as well as in a sub-category may or may not be justified. In favour: it is a convenient way of saying it has "item properties" (appears under possessions in-game) while presenting a link to all other items.

Availability-based sub-categories

These are based on where the item can be purchased. We should be able to define them in such a way that they are mutually exclusive, and each item will belong in exactly one of them. Of course, these definitions inevitably have a cross-dependence with how we define shop types.

Use & effect-based sub-categories

These describe effects and properties of the item, they span across other sub-categories, and items can belong in none or several of them. You may call it filter categories.

Any given item would then be in [[Category:Items]], exactly one availability-category, and zero or more effect-categories. What do you think? --deCarnac 15:36, 5 April 2012 (CEST)

Excellent plan. Engage! --Cliff Burton Marco 00:19, 5 May 2012 (CEST)
