Highlighting full dates

I suggest that this format be added to the style guide:

Highlighting full dates will always result in a red link leading to a dead page. ie. January 17, 2003.

However if the following format is used, removing the exact date, and leaving only the month and year, the resulting link will lead exactly to the right section of the appropriate page, encouraging the editor to add the event as well.

[[2005#January|January 2005]]

Which looks like this: January 2005

If this is done with all dates, not only wll the wiki be consistent, but we should also end up with more complete history pages. I think this method should be added to the style page. --Archangel Talk * Welcome * Support 18:46, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

That's an excellent suggestion, I am only concerned that almost nobody will read or at least remember that when it comes to linking. This will always be a neverending project to fix those links. But yes, let's add it as a recommendation. --Cliff Burton Marco 19:15, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

I am thinking also about the recommendation to only link a word once in an article, the first appearence. It's the usual way to do it. --Cliff Burton Marco 19:15, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Please Discuss

I am trying to put a few things together instead of copying the whole wikipedia styleguide labyrinth. Anyone is invited to add useful information, like common usage of a wiki, what this guide is intended to be. Suggestions though, should be best made on the Talk page, so we can decide together. --Cliff Burton Marco 13:10, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
