Pictures

I'll get to adding pictures soon. I'll add more as I get to it. --Lord Galamushidon't talk to me 19:23, 27 January 2011 (CET)

I fixed it up a little, and added a photo of city grid. --Bry talkvamp 00:31, 4 February 2011 (CET)
I will be adding a guide movie soon as well as other pictures using a "New" pire without powers and blood but thanks for the help. Not sure I agree with anyone main being displayed as a new pire in the city. I think I am going to make a Gif pic that moves to better show a new player about the city. I could use some suggestions as to what should be in the flipping picture. I was thinking of showing each screen from the start of entering a name from a biter link, then moving, eatting humans, finding a vampire hunter, catching it, finding a weapon or yellow, Passing a shop, buying a drink at the pub, Asking a human where the nearest bank is, taking the transit, making it to a bank (Poly station & Bank, Depositting coins and moving out of the bank, My Vampire page and then logging off. All in the span of 35 ap as if watching a lucky new comer move a full turn. --Lord Galamushidon't talk to me 00:14, 5 February 2011 (CET)
Does it need asking a human where the nearest bank is? Ideally they should be using a map, since asking is expensive AP wise and a little unreliable; humans aren't always where you need them to be to ask. Morgrim 14:29, 5 February 2011 (CET)
Well I was thinking of just showing different aspects of the game. I can't make someone use a map even if it makes sence to you but I can show them how to find a bank using humans. Humans will be correct on where a bank is as long as it's within 5 AP or so. Heck I have summond some of my biter childe into the theives guild gave them the coins for both powers and still had them not get the powers. --Lord Galamushidon't talk to me 15:20, 5 February 2011 (CET)

OOC Advice Contents

"From Lord Galamushi
Out Of Character

My best advice is not to trust anyone in this game. This is a game and for the most part people will use you to gain from you in anyway possible. This doesn't mean you shouldn't play or get to know others, it just means always beware when you are being used even by those who claim to be your friends. People here in this game are online and so they don't have to look you in the eye or talk to you in person after they stab you in the back so beware.

Keep things In Character so that these people have no way of hurting you since you really have no way of knowing who they are beyond these city walls. It has happened many times before and will happen to you if you are not careful. Not that this is just happening in this game, because the same thing can be said about anything online. Just be careful and look out for others. Good Luck.

In Character

1. Coins are not yours till they are banked.
2. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
3. Trust no one.
4. Kill or be killed. You are a vampire. Start acting like it.
5. Get your powers.
6. Get your blood.
7. Get out of the ghetto's.
8. Keep your drama to yourself.
9. Give respect to those who earn respect.
10. Don't sire/childe/partner hop. Have some respect for yourself."

I really don't think this should be here as it stands. "Everyone will stab you in the back" isn't something that needs to be on a page for new players working out what on earth they're doing and is honestly pretty negative for any guide page. Also don't we have a neutral language rule somewhere? Morgrim 12:32, 4 February 2011 (CET)

You're not entirely wrong, but you're also not entirely right. As there are peebs out there who RP IC regardless, without a warning such an acquaintance will be very frustrating. You can't complain if this happens, though some may find that unfair, but well, that's life, too. So in my opinion a warning is necessary. Maybe the warning itself could be rewritten a bit more objective. Also I created the artifitial and non existent example character †mightyintimidatingvampirename, which could be used as a neutral name.
I suggest, someone does a rewrite on the discussion page, instead of stepping on someones toes. --Cliff Burton Marco 12:45, 4 February 2011 (CET)
I agree with Morgrim, though. New players might see this, and not wanting to deal with this, turn away and not play. I also agree with, Marco, it should be rewrote, however...it's advice from Sam. It should be rewrote by him. --Bry talkvamp 15:01, 4 February 2011 (CET)
Ditto what Morg said. Mind you, I agreed with the sentiment but certainly not the wording nor the generalisation, or the suggestion that things should be done entirely IC - OOC discussion is highly undervalued. I've dealt with undesirable behaviour in this game, but it's hardly a frequent occurrence. And Sam is a bit notorious for interactions that turn unpleasant. I don't think the advice should be there at all - because it should be common sense. I'd personally prefer a smaller note to remind people to be a bit more circumspect, given the online medium, as Sam said too, lets people abuse the protection that comes with being behind a screen. So something far more diluted than what is there, and shorter. I'd also remove the IC advice; I can see people taking it into consideration when making their characters instead of making them as they would naturally, and from an OOC perspective anti-social or rebellious characters are delicious :P What we could do is offer a description of the general IC social norms, and point out that OOCly there's nothing wrong with characters who go against that. --Cora -talk | vamp- 16:48, 4 February 2011 (CET)
I'll think about it and get back to rewrite it soon but if you have different advice I have made it open for others to add what they think and people can have advice from others and then make up their own mind. As for IC advice... Thats my charater and how he is if you want to best show a difference between charaters then your advice in the section might help but as it stands thats me IC and me OOC towards this game and my 5 consecutive years in it. It's no different as I tell any of my prospective new childern as they come in daily. Any that reach 100 pints are sent all city info and my wishes/advice. When they reach 500 info is resent and when they reach 1000 pints they are summond to me at my home. At that time they can sever me or speak to me if they wish or join my home board for more guldence. I don't black blood I introduce new people to the game and I am completly honest as to my intensions. If I was black blooding I might have the 10,000 pints gained from the last 6 months from doing so, but since I have around 300 pints my intensions for bring new people into the game is different of those of the past. --Lord Galamushidon't talk to me 23:15, 4 February 2011 (CET)
Good, good... I see I set a pow-wow in motion (hope this isn't lost in translation).. about what I think is one of the most important pages in the game (and therefore a shame that it took so long for it to get started). Sure, those who play it, don't need it. And I guess (I don't know as I am not in one) the most clans who bring people to play the game, train them in their clans dojo's (or watchacallit). But I think nevertheless, this should be done really good. --Cliff Burton Marco 05:54, 6 February 2011 (CET)
I removed it. Maybe there is use for the information on a separate page though. --Cliff Burton Marco 15:56, 20 March 2012 (CET)

Blocking

Morgrim, I removed the part you added that you must have donated for second sight in order to block people. That's inaccurate, I have an alternate that does not have second sight but has the ability to block harassers. --Bry talkvamp 15:01, 4 February 2011 (CET)

Then there is something really, really weird going on. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a35/morgrimmoon/rbcblocking.jpg That's on my alt, and quite clearly says that blocking requires Second Sight. Morgrim 15:35, 4 February 2011 (CET)
I just checked on my two undonated-for accounts, and I get the same as Morg :| --Cora -talk | vamp- 16:48, 4 February 2011 (CET)
My bad, I saw the link to block people, without clicking it, I assumed. I undid the edit. --Bry talkvamp 21:18, 4 February 2011 (CET)
