Claims to speak German

Wie gut verstehst du denn noch Deutsch? :D --Cliff Burton Marco 21:56, 9 March 2012 (CET)

Tut mir Leid — nur ein kleines Bisschen :-) I can read German pretty well, but my active usage of the language is poor. If I were to try and write any significant texts in German it would be a grammatic embarrassment. --deCarnacT·C 23:20, 9 March 2012 (CET)
"Nur ein kleines Bisschen", that phrase is all you need to know to speak in any language :) --Cliff Burton Marco 23:23, 9 March 2012 (CET)

Thanks for your game-play additions. Nowadays I am surprised if anyone does this kind of input to the wiki. --Cliff Burton Marco 18:52, 12 March 2012 (CET)

Thanks, I only wish I had discovered a great wiki like this earlier! --deCarnacT·C 19:13, 12 March 2012 (CET)
Yeah, you missed all the fun with AA and others bitching and complaining :D But I think it was worth it. --Cliff Burton Marco 19:16, 12 March 2012 (CET)
You should be informed that your work you put in here int that relatively short amount of time is almost frightening. I thougt the game was dead, as over here in the wiki, lately business is stagnating. And yet there along comes one, who does the things I always hoped someone would do. Thank you for that. --Cliff Burton Marco 16:30, 15 March 2012 (CET)
I just wanted to say, HELL YEAH! you are incredible. Marco has put up with alot of BS from way too many players over the years and it's great to see him so thrilled with your presence here. --Susan 18:54, 6 November 2013 (CET)

Guilds Movement

Regarding: Category_talk:Guilds the Guild Movement times do change both, in date and in time. RB does it, and nobody knows when and to which date/time it changes. Maybe he has hardwired it, but I doubt it.

--Cliff Burton Marco 20:40, 12 March 2012 (CET)

I don't exactly get why you removed the discount & charisma prices from the scrolls pages, but I like what you contributed so far. You do not think that kind of information needs to be there? I am eager to learn what you thought :) --Cliff Burton Marco 15:03, 23 March 2012 (CET)

Yes, about that — the price chart for an item are (as far as I know) always certain proportions of the regular price. If you want to I can reinsert full price tables at each item page, but there is one at the Category:Items page, right? I had an idea about "regular price" linking to perhaps that table along with the following generic principle:

  • Shop modifiers: Regular shop ×1.00, Discount shop ×0.70, Special shop ×1.10 (on normal items).
  • Charisma modifiers: no Charisma ×1.00, Charisma(1) ×0.97, Charisma(2) ×0.93, Charisma(3) ×0.90 (not always affecting special shop prices)

--deCarnacT·C 15:24, 23 March 2012 (CET)

I get you. From a programmers point of view I would follow the principle to avoid redundancy when I see it. On the wiki I think... well, I don't want to have to dig deep to get informations like in that special case. I am not sure if there is a similar case like with the discount, though. But.. I'd say, let's make a link from regular price, like you are suggesting, with an additional information that there are discount prices which are listed on the [[Category:items]]. Something like that. I am kidding. With "let's make" I meant you. Seriously, you are doing a great job, I assume you are no mediawiki newbie, are you? --Cliff Burton Marco 17:23, 23 March 2012 (CET)
Actually I haven't been doing much wiki work before, which may be why I edit away a bit wrecklessly. Please stop me when I'm messing around too much. I am currently having a look at the item articles (many they are!), some of which are redirects to the special shops. My in-game agent †deCarnac has just made a visit at the Eternal Aubade of Mystical Treasures gathering info on current goods. Will try to visit the other Special Shops as well. --deCarnacT·C 17:45, 23 March 2012 (CET)

Price template idea

An idea (in principle) just struck me — is it possible to make a template that does calculations? It would then take a regular price as a number argument, make the appropriate shop type & charisma multiplications and output (the code for) a neat price table? I suspect the wiki treats arguments as dead strings for security reasons, making this impossible, but if not... --deCarnacT·C 18:00, 23 March 2012 (CET)

I didn't know until now, because I searched and found an answer for that on Wikipedia: WikiPedia:Help:Calculation. BUT! I need to add the MediaWiki Extension ParserFunctions, which i could do. Are you willing to spend time to figure out how to use it? Is it worth it? If you just want to play around, trying out new things, I will support you. --Cliff Burton Marco 03:35, 24 March 2012 (CET)
Excellent! I'll try and make a template called Template:ItemPriceTable. If it fails horribly it can be deleted, right? --deCarnacT·C 17:28, 24 March 2012 (CET)
There you go. --Cliff Burton Marco 18:17, 24 March 2012 (CET)
Great, you are a rock! About, the template — it's alive! ;-) --deCarnacT·C 14:33, 25 March 2012 (CEST)

Building Types

Great job! What do you think about a marker template, to be able to mark articles that should have a real life kind photograph on it? What you did with putting in photos I really really really love. It makes all feel more realistic. I might start playing again, seriously. Though I am known for not RPing. Also, I thought of marking images (mostly squares screenshots) that should be replaced.--Cliff Burton Marco 17:42, 3 April 2012 (CEST)

The choice of photos was a bit tricky to begin with, but once I let go of what time era it was (contempory being okay) it wasn't that hard. Feel free to overwrite any of them whenever you find better images. --deCarnacT·C 18:07, 3 April 2012 (CEST)
I prefer to talk with the creator if possible. But the idea is, to be able to mark pages that lack of those realistic photographs, I like so much. Sometimes I see articles that need improvement, but I am either too lazy, I am out of time or I am hopelessly stuck inside a dozens open browser tabs with wiki pages opened and started. Happens all the time. Happens right now. :D But maybe the {{Needs Image}} or [[Category:NeedsBetterImage]] serve well enough. But those do not say "IWANNAPHOTOGRAPH" ;( --Cliff Burton Marco 23:48, 3 April 2012 (CEST)

Medical Treatment

Get well soon! I hope it isn't anything serious. Of course you do not have to tell. Just get well! Take care. --Cliff Burton Marco 01:06, 5 May 2012 (CEST)

Thanks! :-) I don't want to encumber you or others with my personal stuff, just put the note in there in case I have to be away for a longer time. That way there's no confusion as to why I suddenly don't answer discussions. --deCarnacT·C 01:18, 5 May 2012 (CEST)

custom signature

I was wondering when you finally go for that :D . As you might have noticed, your prior signatures weren't affected by this. I could replace them with your custom one, though, if you like me to. --Cliff Burton Marco 19:15, 6 May 2012 (CEST)

Thanks! Yes, if it's not too much trouble replacing the old ones, that would of course be great! Just realized I took my new signature to heart faster than I could have imagined. Maybe it that Miami Vice-esque, 1980:s neon-sign look and feel it got that is so me → deCarnacT·C 22:10, 6 May 2012 (CEST)
Started the replacement job. Have to wait 'til it is finished. --Cliff Burton Marco 00:22, 7 May 2012 (CEST)

Hi, I'm trying to step up and help around here more and would love your guidance on what needs to get done and what would be most useful. My yahoo is whiplash_girlchilde if you want to talk at all. --Penny talk | character 15:22, 25 June 2012 (CEST)

This came by my advice to involve you too. It would be a nice thing to have not just one person to talk to when someone seeks for advice or an opinion. --Cliff Burton Marco 13:40, 26 June 2012 (CEST)

RBCWiki Site News

I totally recommend that you update the Site News Template {{Main Page/Site News}} with your additions. You do such good work, it should be noticed by the wiki users. It's easy to do for you. There are different color codes for the types of info but it's kind of self explanatory. --Cliff Burton Marco 19:37, 29 July 2012 (CEST)

Vampbox assistance needed

I see you are a master craftsman of user/vamp boxes, so I am hoping you can help me with 2-3 that I would like made for my character. A simple set of instructions for making your own custom vampboxes would be really nifty to have posted somewhere. Or if you are too busy to do something like that, can I just tell you what I want & you can make them for me? Not a huge rush, btw.

thanks --Susan 15:11, 3 November 2013 (CET)

Instructions for making templates is a good long-term idea. There are some online but short, good instructions can be surprisingly hard to write. If I get the time, I can try to create a How-to article on vampboxes in the near future.
A quicker solution would be if I create one or more of the templates according to specs you provide? Then you can continue edit them until they become as you want them (in case of problems, I'll help). Once you know how one vampbox works, you know how to create new ones. :-) --deCarnacT·C 22:36, 4 November 2013 (CET)
Hi again Susan, I started writing a tutorial in Help:Userboxes. Not sure if it's useful enough yet. Your feedback in its talk page would help making it better, especially if something is missing or unclear. --deCarnacT·C 17:48, 5 November 2013 (CET)
SQUEEEEE! you are awesome. The tutorial is great and I made one rather quickly already

Occamrazor collects ears.

. I will add a few suggestions to the talk page for the tutorial later. Thank you so much, I am sure others will be stoked to be able to make their own boxes, as well. --Susan 18:50, 6 November 2013 (CET)

Nice! :-D --deCarnacT·C 08:41, 7 November 2013 (CET)
